School’s nearly out for kids in and around Paris, and “les grandes vacances” of summer are coming. If you’ve been as busy as us, you might just be finding yourself in a last-minute panic on how to keep your children active and away from digital devices in France for the next couple of months. Don’t worry – we’ve got you covered!

Here’s the scoop on day camps (stages), workshops (ateliers) and overnight camps which still have spaces available for kids of all ages in Paris and further out. Hurry though! Spaces are going to fill up quickly once the word’s out! (Note: Most activities are led in French unless otherwise noted.)

SUMMER ATELIERS (WORKSHOPS) IN PARIS

If you’re looking for shorter workshops for your children rather than full-day activities, Paris is packed with places offering inspiring and creative ateliers. Whether your children love singing and dancing, acting, sculpting, science or computer coding, you’ll find dozens of ideas in the workshops and classes section of our I-List.

Museum-based workshops

Don’t forget the plethora of amazing museums in Paris, which offer regular workshops for children, some with and some without their parents.

The Musée des Arts Decoratifs (Museum of Decorative Arts), also offers a rich variety of 2 to 2-1/2 hour ateliers – from watercolor painting, to sculpture, to storyboarding, linocutting, caricature drawing, bag design and fashion design – at reasonable prices.

DAY CAMPS IN AND AROUND PARIS

No matter what your child’s interests, you’ll be sure to find a camp near you. But, since it’s summer in France and the gorgeous, sunny weather beckons, we’ve highlighted some of the day camps that will get your children active outdoors:

Outdoor Activities/Sports Camps

Sporty kids will love the activities offered at sports clubs in the suburbs of Paris like Paris Country Club (Rueil-Malmaison) and Energy Academy (Bièvres) which run soccer, tennis and golf camps throughout summer, starting June 20. Parents will love the flexibility of booking half day or full day sessions, by the day or by the week.

The Paris Country Club offers a shuttle bus (navette) from Porte Maillot to the club in the morning, and Energy Academy offers a door-to-door minivan pick up and drop off — which makes it pricier than other camps. Both clubs are used to welcoming visiting international children, so they will have animateurs who speak some degree of English.

The first American basketball camp in France where boys and girls from 7 years and up can learn fundamentals and skills from professional basketball players. They’ll receive intermediate and advanced skills training focused on individual development, and have fun while competing against each other. Sessions held in French and in English.

When: June 18-19 and July 2-3, 9am-5pm

Boys Playing Soccer

Paris Saint Germain Academy (soccer)

This soccer school runs weekly 5-a-side soccer camps for kids through the summer (and other school holidays) at various Urban Soccer locations. Participants receive a PSG/Nike branded uniform and get a thrill out of visiting the Parc de Princes for a multi-team competition. They also run an intensive sleep away training camp for older kids outside of Paris (see Overnight Camps).

La Salésienne (soccer/tennis)

The Salésienne is a sports and cultural association in the 17th arrondissement of Paris offering year-round activities for children and adults (tennis, soccer, dance, art etc…) They value, friendship, conviviality, and solidarity. In July, they run soccer and tennis day camps as well as a multi-sport camp in Savoie (see Overnight Camps).

La Nicolaïte de Chaillot (gymnastics/soccer)

Another well-known sporting and cultural association in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, la Nicolaïte’s goal is to develop children’s appreciation of culture and sports. They offer soccer and gymnastics summer day camps and a week-long sleep away camp in Charente from late-June/July (see Overnight Camps).

Maison de la Pêche et de Nature (fishing/nature)

Fan of fishing and nature? Fishing is actually quite a thing in Paris! Open since 1993, Maison de la Pêche et de Nature runs unique five-day, nature-themed and fishing day camps in July and during other school holidays. Situated on l’Ile de la Jatte, just on the periphery of Paris, the goal of the foundation is to sensitize children about the preservation of the environment and fishing. During day camps, children will learn about the biodiversity and the life and manners of the predators of the Seine!

Ages: 7-12 years
When: various camps between July 6 until August 26
