Moving to Paris and raising a family in a new environment can be both exciting and daunting. There are beautiful sites and museums to visit, tantalizing restaurants to try. But it’s hard to have fun when you’re still struggling to figure out how things work in your new city. Ne vous inquiétez pas. You’re not alone.
Every Fall, there are two important Anglophone community events to ease the transition for newcomers to Paris.
For a one-stop forum to help you get your bearings in Paris and find answers all your most pertinent questions on housing, education, health and taxes, BLOOM WHERE YOU’RE PLANTED is the place to be.
If you’re already planted on French soil with a teenager who needs to make some tough decisions about his or her post-BAC (high school) future, don’t miss PARIS COLLEGE DAY.
When: Sunday, September 30, from 1:30pm-4:30pm
Where: Paris Marriott Rive Gauche Hotel & Conference Center
17 Blvd Saint-Jacques 75014 Paris
For over 30 years, Paris College Day, a FREE international college and university fair has been presented by CIS, the non-profit Council of International Schools, with volunteer support provided by AAWE.
This annual event offers an exceptional opportunity for teenagers and their parents to meet with admission officers from nearly 100 institutions who will provide advice and information to students considering higher education outside of France. It is also a very popular event for long-term residents of France seeking beyond the BAC (post-high school) options for their bilingual kids. (If you have a child in his or her final two years of French lycée, the equivalent of American high school, this event will help with orientation.) French students with a high level of English language skills are also finding their way to this important fair to find out more about the many options for programs in English around Europe, the UK and the USA.
When: Saturday, October 6, 2018, from 9:30am-6pm (registration and prices here)
Where: American Church of Paris — 65, quai d’Orsay 75008
