Ce n’est pas vrai! School just started not long ago, and it’s already time to plan for the first holiday? Yep, the vacances de la Toussaint are just around the corner and, if your children are in a French school in Paris, they’re in your hands after classes end on October 20.

If you’re looking to keep your kiddos constructively occupied while you work (or relax!), INSPIRELLE has done the research to make life easier for you. Here’s a shortlist of some tried-and-tested, parent-approved activities to get your children out exploring new horizons (and off the couch) both in and around Paris.

Shoot Some Hoops with American Basketball Camp

Alley-oop! Boys and girls from 10 to 17 years old can practice their lay-ups and relays with the American Basketball Camp, a complete basketball academy where kids can learn the game’s fundamentals and skills from former professional player Sylvester Morgan. Whether you want to introduce your child to American-style basketball, develop their skills or help your established basketballer get to the next level, this camp caters to players of all levels. Kids will receive intermediate and advanced skills training focused on individual development, learn the importance of teamwork and on-court leadership, and have fun while competing against each other. Sessions are held at the American School of Paris and are led in French and in English.

Fun with English, Fashion Design, and Sports at the American School of Paris

Kids will feel like they’re a world away on the lovely, green campus of the American School of Paris (ASP), where they can polish up their English skills, learn Fashion Design or play American basketball (see above) through the ASP extension program. Your budding Chanel or Dior can learn the basics of fashion design and illustration to help them build a portfolio and construct their own 3D designs. Kindergarten and Primary school students are immersed in English through a full day of classroom instruction, outdoor activities, games, music, theater, artistic and multimedia activities. Secondary school students get more intensive, half-day academic English classes with an option to add theater, art, and multi-sports to make a full day.

Rock the Toussaint Holidays at ISP Plus

If variety is what you’re looking for, the ISP Plus extension program of the International School of Paris offers a plethora of fun, skill-building holiday camps for kids. Music lovers can join a student rock band and perform in a concert for friends and family at the end of the week. Dancers will explore rhythm in Zumba or African dance and percussion workshops. Creators can explore building techniques, architectural and mechanical principles with Lego engineering workshops. Digital kids will bring Lego creations to life or learn Pokécode through computer coding classes in English. Artistic kids can choose from visual arts, photography or jewelry making workshops. Or perhaps you want to simply boost their English or French skills through interactive games, songs and role play. The choice is yours!

Monstrous Fun in SPOOK-tacular ACTing Camps

If your child possesses a wild imagination and craves creative expression, they’ll have monster-sized fun at this Halloween-themed musical theatre camp! During the Toussaint holiday, the American Children’s Theater (ACT) in Paris offers two different week-long camps exploring silly monsters, pirates, and villains. ACT’s creative and caring team of professional actors and musicians inspire budding performers to build confidence and learn self-expression, as they prepare to perform a ghoulish show for their parents at the end of the week. Morning, afternoon or full-day options available.

Sharpen Their Leadership Skills at RISE

Today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders, so why not give them a chance to hone the skills it takes to be a future boss, pioneer or trendsetter in a fun way over the holidays? RISE International, a progressive new bilingual school in the western suburbs of Paris, is offering a one-week Leadership and Team Building-themed holiday camp during Toussaint. Through outdoor games, hiking, guest speakers, cooking, debate, role-playing, and meditation, they will help kids learn the importance of collaboration, as well as the qualities and responsibilities of a leader.

For parents, RISE is also introducing a monthly evening lecture series with inspiring speakers on engaging subjects, beginning October 12. Discover, Dream and Travel with Apprends et Rêve

Send your offspring on a trip to India, get close to Mother Nature, or choreograph a dance with the passionately creative team at Apprends et Rêves (Learn and Dream) in central Paris. Started by a mother of four, the company offers innovative workshops after school and on weekends for kids aged 3 to 15, as well as parent/child workshops throughout the year. Over the Toussaint break, they’re offering an a la carte choice of themed camps (stages) to tap into your children’s creative side and allow them to discover new things in a fun way.
