women of paris walks

INSPIRELLE is pleased to partner with Women of Paris Walks for a Sugar & Spice and Women Who Write walking tour especially organized for INSPIRELLE members, partners, and subscribers.

This original Paris walk features profiles of influential women writers and guides you through the glamorous Saint Germain-des-Prés district where many lived and are celebrated. There will be stories of the fascinating and sometimes scandalous lives of some of the best writers of the last two centuries and how these women championed the Women’s Liberation Movement and helped to shape our modern world.

In addition, this neighborhood is known for its concentration of wonderful chocolatiers, patisseries and confectioneries and so our walk will be punctuated by opportunities to try some of the best sweet treats the city has to offer. After all, it wouldn’t be Paris without something delicious to eat! There will be stories of the likes of Colette and George Sand as well as tastings at famous spots Henri Le Roux and George Larnicol… and goodness galore!

About Heidi Evans

Heidi Evans arrived in Paris in 2014 as a graduate student from London and immediately fell in love with the city and all its beauty and history. Working as a tour guide in Paris for two years, she showed many tourists the Parisian sites and luminaries that make up the long history of the City of Light. But then she started to wonder: Why were only men talked about on tours? And where, or where, were the stories of women who lived and worked here; wrote great novels; painted, sculpted and entertained; created businesses, raised families; and more?

Her curiosity bloomed into an idea to create Women of Paris Walks, a one-of-a-kind Paris walking tour that celebrates women. Her research revealed an abundance of women who have excelled in every field, from literature, art, fashion, and science, including Colette, Sylvia Beach, Marie Curie, George Sand, etc. So many of them were overshadowed by their husbands (or partners and lovers), forgotten and overlooked, and never given their due recognition.
