With their beautiful, bright color, green beans, or haricots verts are an ideal side dish for a festive dinner. Simple to prepare, they’ll also pack some extra minerals, carotenoids and vitamins into your meal!
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 pound or 500 grams of fresh green beans
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2-3 tablespoons of butter
- Toasted almonds or pine nuts or sesame seeds
PREPARATION:
In a casserole pot, cook beans in salted boiling water for about 5-6 minutes until tender.
Drain. Add 2-3 teaspoons of butter. Salt and pepper to taste. Finish with topping such as toasted almonds or pine nuts or sesame seeds.
For a fancier green bean side dish, try the green bean with lemon/garlic/basil sauce. You could also replace the green beans with snow peas (cook 2-3 minutes), or mix the two vegetables.
