INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 x 12-ounce package (or 500 grams) of cranberries (airelles rouges)
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 cup sugar (add more if cranberries are tart)
  • Freshly grated lemon or tangerine zest

OPTIONAL: Cinnamon stick (remove at end of cooking), crystallized ginger bits, toasted almonds, Cabernet red wine

PREPARATION:

Pour cranberries into a small casserole pot. Add sugar and water and mix well.

Cover the pot of cranberries with a lid and bring to a boil. Boil berries for about 10-15 minutes until the skin slightly bursts. Add lemon or tangerine zest.
