Indulge your romantic side

Paris is known as the “city of romance”, but how much do you know about “Romantic Paris”? A large-scale exhibition at the Petit Palais museum plunges visitors back to the evocative time between the fall of Napoleon in 1815 to the revolution of 1848. Discover over 600 works of painting, sculpture, costumes, furniture and more as you take a tour of the period’s emblematic sites: the Tuileries, the Palais-Royal, the Nouvelle Athènes quarter, Victor Hugo’s Notre-Dame, and the Grand Boulevards and their theatres. Continue your exploration with a stroll in the museum’s charming garden or continue on to the Musée de la Vie Romantique for an exhibit tracing the literary and high-society salons of the era.

Catch Dance Fever

This year’s edition of the Etés de la Danse festival has a distinctly Spanish flavor by way of Swedish choreographer Johan Inger. His new version of “Carmen”, danced by the visiting Compañía Nacional de Danza de España, revisits the myth of the fiery gypsy updating it for the 21st century.  The perfect way to discover – or rediscover – a passion for modern dance.

Reach for the Stars

August is the perfect time to enjoy a family evening under the night sky.  Celebrating the return of the comet Swift-Tuttle and its famous Perseids meteor shower, the Nuit des Etoiles offers three days and nights of astronomy-related activities in venues across Paris, such as Tour Montparnasse, the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie and the Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace at Le Bourget airport. This year, the theme focuses on the collection and analysis of extraterrestrial rock samples.
